In almost every article we’ve published recently we’ve discussed vitamins and minerals and have stated they are important to your health. The article titled Natural Disease Prevention even had the quote below:

Dr. Linus Pauling the two-time Nobel Prize winner states that: “You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”

We never told you what minerals we have in our bodies, which we believe are best and WHY they are so important to your health. This is the first in a series of articles that will, hopefully, help you understand just how important minerals are to your survival. The table below will give you a list of the minerals we’ll be covering in separate articles to give you a better understanding of the role each is believed to play in your body.

Scientists have identified 84 different minerals that our body’s need to both survive and thrive so the list above is only part of the picture. The quote below will give you a glimpse of just how important minerals are.

Dr. Charles Northen, MD researcher reports that, “In the absence of minerals, vitamins have no function. Lacking vitamins, the system can make use of the minerals, but lacking minerals vitamins are useless.”

Zinc is so important to your body that it is part of every cell in the body. It is estimated that zinc is part of at least 3,000 proteins and about 200 enzymes.

Pregnant women and lactating women need to work with their medical professionals to ensure they have enough zinc in their diets because the zinc helps prevent premature delivery, low birth weights, neuropsychological development and growth retardation.

Men need to pay attention to their zinc levels if they are interested in their sexual health. Sperm formation, sperm motility and the male hormone metabolism are all affected by your zinc levels.

Teenagers that wish to help prevent acne rather than treating it should ensure they are getting an adequate supply of dietary zinc.

Zinc is especially important for anyone with wounds or burns because it helps the skin heal and it helps strengthen the immune system.

Your immune system helps fight many diseases and illnesses including the common cold. Zinc lozenges have proven effective in killing several of the viruses associated with the common cold. This shows that a healthy immune system requires zinc and zinc lozenges may help shorten the duration of and colds you may catch. A healthy immune system with an adequate zinc level may also delay the onset of influenza.

A zinc deficiency may show itself with symptoms ranging from lack of taste, loss of appetite, prolonged wound healing, slow growth, night blindness, skin lesions, diarrhea, reduced sense of smell, memory loss and hair loss. An extreme deficiency of zinc could help bring about the eating disorder anorexia nervosa because of the loss of appetite and loss of taste. Some of the problems that may develop because of a zinc deficiency may result in death if left untreated.

In addition to pregnant and lactating women, children and seniors are susceptible to zinc deficiencies.

Shellfish, most animal proteins such as red meat, legumes, almonds, nuts, whole grains, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are all sources of zinc.

Many parents of young children must figure out how to get rid of lice from time to time. This article will show you a way you can help prevent them and keep them from returning.

Zinc is a mineral we need to be healthy as we discussed in our articles on minerals and lice don’t appreciate people that have enough zinc in their diets.

Combine the effectiveness of zinc with an adult shampooing the hair of their child with a thorough scalp massage while shampooing and you have a winning combination. A conditioner must be used with the shampoo to ensure you help condition the scalp and hair. A metal lice comb is a useful tool to help pull the eggs loose from the hair they are attached to.

There is no one way to get rid of lice that works for everyone. There are expensive commercial shampoos that can be used, there are many home remedies that can be used and there going to be varying degrees of success with each treatment you choose. Lice have adapted to live their entire lives on their host and they have existed for over 3 million years so the treatment that will get rid of lice may not be easy to find.

You can find other remedies for lice removal elsewhere on the Natural Remedies Products website. I strongly recommend you also check out Head Lice Be Gone – A Proven System where a mother of 3 girls talks about a system she uses to naturally get rid of head lice from her girls.
