Green Tea Weight Loss Study

Many benefits have been associated with green tea for centuries. A recent green tea weight loss study provides evidence that this tea helps you lose weight.

The people of the world are growing heavier as they adopt the ‘western diet’ and lifestyle with more than half of all Americans being either over weight or obese. These extra pounds can and often does lead to medical problems such as:

  • type 2 diabetes
  • sleep apnea
  • gall bladder problems
  • mellitus
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure).

People can reach a point where their weight causes sleep apnea which interrupts the normal body rejuvenation cycle which causes weight gain and this unhealthy cycle is VERY hard to break even if you are eating right and exercising.

The weight loss benefits of tea have been studied by many scientists in several different studies and they have found that this beverage increases your metabolism so you expend more energy.

The study conducted at the University of Geneva concluded that, “Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se.” This means that caffeine is NOT the primary ingredient that helps promote weight loss as was originally believed.

A second study was conducted in Switzerland by the same team and they duplicated the results of the first study which showed that this tea has several thermogenic attributes that make it perfect to use in any weight loss program.

Sample Studies: Green Tea and Weight Loss

Green tea reduces body fat accretion caused by high-fat diet in rats through beta-adrenoceptor activation of thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue. Conducted by chief scientist J.J. Choo of the Department of Food and Nutrition, Kunsan National University, this study aimed to find out if green tea can suppress body fat and to find out whether this suppression is connected with thermogenesis spurred by the body’s beta-adrenoceptor being activated.

To investigate the weight loss benefit of green tea on rats, the scientists placed their subjects on a high-fat diet and provided them with green tea extract. It was discovered that even though the rats were on a high-fat diet, the green tea extract counterbalanced fat gain without affecting the amount of energy they took in. Green tea was said to have shown some weight loss benefits in the fact that it can prevent fat from being stored, can increase protein levels, and promote thermogenesis by triggering beta-adrenoceptor to action.

Recent findings of green tea extract AR25 (Exolise) and its activity for the treatment of obesity. This study is a collaborative work between Doctors P. Chantre and D. Lairon of the Laboratoires Arkopharma in Carros, France. Published in the 2002 issue of Phytomedicine, this study aimed to find out if green tea extract has weight loss benefits and can be a potential cure for obesity.

In their study, they used an 80% ethanolic concentrate in green tea extract with standardized 25% catechins. They tested the green tea extract and were able to find that it could directly inhibit gastric and pancreatic lipases. These enzymes are the primary cause of fat storage and by delaying their actions; green tea extract therefore exhibits a weight loss benefit that can help solve obesity problems.

It was also discovered in this study that green tea can stimulate thermogenesis. Given to moderately obese patients, the green tea extract was said to have caused a decrease in weight by 4.6% and a reduction of waist circumference by 4.48% after only three months. The findings of the study clearly implicate the weight loss benefits of green tea.

This tea is on of the most studied beverages there is and you should find comfort in the findings of a green tea weight loss study when the results can be duplicated.

Think Right Now Program Review

You may wonder about Think Right Now products and whether they really work. I can say that at least one DOES work even when directions aren’t exactly followed.

The product I’m talking about is the I Am Healed NOW CD by Think Right Now. I received this CD as a Christmas gift this last December. I made a back up copy of the CD and started playing it 24/7.

The directions recommend reading the affirmations at least once a day AND physically writing out the 10-15 you agree with the most but I’m not physically able to write out the affirmations and I seldom take the time to open the file and read the affirmations.

I wanted this product in the hopes that it would help with some of the health issues I have as a paralyzed person that’s confined to bed.

I’ve had a recurring bed sore in one my coccyx for 37 years and it has been open this last time for 9 years and was about 9cm deep. Wound care specialists repeatedly told me there was nothing that could be done that would result in a permanent healing. Another that that I have has been consistently open and sometimes bone deep for nine years. This wound is on my left shin and wound care specialists also stated nothing could be done for it.

The recommended treatment for the leg wound was salt packs when bone deep otherwise just antibiotic salve and a Telfa covering when the bone wasn’t exposed. This sore was 3 inches long and about an inch wide.

Since I started using the I Am Healed NOW CD, the sore on my leg has completely healed over and remained closed for a month AND the sore in my coccyx is now 6cm in depth and slightly narrower at the surface.

The ONLY thing that was changed was the addition of the I Am Healed NOW CD to my routine.

I’ve also seen improvements in other skin problems, I don’t crave sweets as much as I did, I’m willing to leave food on my plate when the servings I’m given are too large and other minor health related items that the CD’s affirmations address. Proven result by altering my thinking is the best endorsement I can give this product and I heartily urge you to read the testimonials associated with EVERY product offing from Think Right Now.

Green Tea Benefits

Asians have consumed green tea for about 4,000 years and many consider it much more than a beverage. This tea is an herbal medicine and part of many therapies.

Weight loss, depression and headaches are just a few of the uses for green tea enthusiasts.

Green tea has been the subject of numerous studies over the last few years. The goals in many of these studies were to identify the compound or compounds that make this tea such a potent health drink. The results showed that this beverage has several antioxidants that are responsible for the various health benefits including weight loss.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and Urology published the results of a research study done by American and Swiss scientists on the weight loss benefit of green tea. The published results concluded that green tea contains compounds that contribute to its weight loss.

The study’s lead researcher, D. Abdul Dulloo, stated in a press release that weight loss can only be achieved by reducing the intake of energy or increasing the expenditure of energy. Green tea normally increases your body’s metabolic rate which helps you burn more energy.

Dr. Dulloo and his colleagues experimented on ten healthy young men at the University of Geneva. The hypothesis for the study was that caffeine was the compound in green tea that provided the weight loss benefit. This hypothesis was tested by placing the 10 participants on a typical “Western” diet which is about forty percent fat, thirteen percent protein, and forty-seven percent carbohydrates.

The researchers measured how much energy each participant burnt three times a day. These measurements were used to calculate the number of calories that were burned in a 24 hour period and the respiration was monitored to determine how well each participant utilized the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats they consumed.

The collected data, when interpreted, revealed that the participants that regularly received green tea extract showed a significant increase in their 24-hour energy expenditure and a reduction in their respiration quotient (which meant that more fat was burned, thereby achieving maximum weight loss). On the other hand, the men that were given either caffeine or placebo with every meal experienced only minimal increases in their metabolic rates.

The scientists construed that the catechin

polyphenol present in green tea adds to its weight loss benefit. The substances in green tea may alter how the body uses the hormone norepinephrine which is responsible for increasing the metabolic rate and that contributes to weight loss.

The scientists, in their conclusion, inferred that green tea owes its weight loss benefits to the antioxidants and catechin polyphenol that are in it. These substances help your body burn fat and calories which helps optimize your weight loss.
