Have you noticed that many snoring cures don’t work? The reason most snoring cures don’t work is that they don’t address the underlying causes of snoring. You may have multiple things causing the problem and the treatment you are using to cure the problem only addresses one problem.

Snoring is caused by an interruption of the air flow between your mouth or nose to the lungs. The interruption can be caused by:

  • asthma
  • colds
  • flu
  • smoking
  • drinking
  • obesity
  • medications

As you can see, there are many causes and no single treatment is a cure for snoring for everyone. Snoring is a problem faced by many people as the numbers below show.

45 percent of normal adults snore once in awhile and 25 percent or about 55 million Americans are habitual snorers. Snoring is more frequent in males and overweight people, and it usually worsens with age. Read the full article here.

Sometimes a snoring cure is simply a matter of changing your sleeping position, losing weight to get the extra fat that surrounds your throat to disappear, stop smoking or waiting until you are over the cold or flu. When the cause of your snoring is an allergy or asthma, you might have medications you are taking that are causing the problem so a different medicine may be the cure you seek.

I believe everyone that has a snoring problem should do two things. The first thing is to consult with their medical professional to see if there is an underlying medical issue that needs to be addressed and the second is to get a resources that discusses the different causes of snoring, how to determine if you have sleep apnea and discusses different snoring cures.
